Get ready for a week of summer of fun! Stove Camp will be held August 15-19 at Aprovecho’s Blue Mountain Campus. Participants will learn about the design, testing, funding, and marketing of biomass cook stoves. Bring your ideas and your prototypes. Two emissions hoods will be available all day to give a first impression of your stove’s emissions performance (1). Materials and expertise will be available for you to construct new stoves and modify existing models. There will be ample time for discussions among colleagues between lecture sessions, during moderated discussions, during work sessions, and during meals.

The coveted Cat Pee Award along with the $250 prize will be awarded to the team that produces the cleanest burning stove. The WHO guidelines for PM are very difficult to meet – 1.75 mg/min for an unvented stove and 7.15 mg/min for a vented stove. Can you pass the test? If during Stove Camp a stove is found that appears to meet the WHO standards the owner will be invited back to Aprovecho free of charge so that the stove may recieve extensive testing. Aprovecho will produce an official report for the owner to use at his or her discresion.

Space for tent camping will be available. There is an outdoor solar shower (and a regular one inside). Meals will be prepared by our staff cook. There are also several hotels in Cottage Grove.

The cost of registration is $400. Payment by Paypal (including credit cards) or check in advance is preferred, but payment (including by cash and directly with credit cards) upon arrival will be accepted.
